Podcasting has exploded in recent years. According to eMarketer, in 2021 monthly listenership in the US is predicted to increase by more than 10% year-over-year to 117.8 million.
It’s never been a more important time for PR pros and podcasters to build strong relationships. In our first-ever State of Podcasting survey, we set out to better understand podcasters’ biggest challenges and preferences.
Here's a sneak peek of the survey results:
- The average podcaster covers 5 different roles at once. These include hosting (76%), writing/editing (63%), producing (62%), promotions/marketing (60%) and booking guests (58%)
- Over 80% of podcasters are responsible for sourcing content for new episodes
- The most common reasons why podcasters reject pitches are a lack of personalization (47%) or bad timing (42%)
- Twitter is the most popular platform for podcasters to reach their audience (41%)
